What It Is
A decision heuristic: if your honest, unguarded reaction to a new opportunity is not an enthusiastic ‘Hell Yes,’ the answer is no. The practice eliminates the grey zone where mediocre opportunities consume resources that belong to exceptional ones.
How to Use It
Before evaluating the merits of any new opportunity, ask one question: Is my gut reaction ‘Hell Yes’? If you have to convince yourself — if you need the spreadsheet to justify it — the answer is no. Document every ‘no’ with the reason. Review quarterly to see what you protected by saying no.
